When you encounter an issue or error on the WeTransfer website, a team member may ask you to record a HAR file while the issue occurs to help with troubleshooting.
Instructions for generating HAR files
For Google Chrome:
To generate a HAR file in Chrome:
- Right-click on the page where you're experiencing the issue, and select Inspect from the menu.
In the developer tools panel that opens, select the Network tab. You must keep the menu open while you reproduce the issue.

Look for a round record button in the upper left corner of the tab, and make sure it is red. If it is grey, click the button once to start recording. If it isn't, check the Preserve log box.
- Click the grey crossed circle button to clear any existing logs from the network tab.
- Reproduce the issue while the network requests are recorded.
- Click the download button, Export HAR, to download, and save the file to your computer: Save as HAR with Content. Send the HAR file to our Support Team for further investigation.

For Firefox:
- In Firefox, navigate to Tools > Browser Tools > Web Developer Tools
In the developer tools panel that opens, select the Network tab
- Reproduce the issue while the network requests are recorded.
- Right-click anywhere under the File column and click Save All As HAR.
- Save the HAR file somewhere convenient.
- Send the HAR file to our Support Team for further investigation.

For Microsoft Edge:
- Right-click on the page you are having an error on and click Inspect
In the developer tools panel that opens, select the Network tab
- Reproduce the issue while the network requests are recorded.
- Export captured traffic as a HAR file.
- Send the HAR file to our Support Team for further investigation.

For Safari:
- Open Safari Settings
- Go to the Advanced tab > enable Show features for web developers
- Once the Develop menu is enabled, you can find it in the Safari menu bar
- Click the Network tab. You must keep it open while you reproduce the issue.
- Reproduce the issue while the network requests are recorded.
- Click the Export icon and save the HAR file.
- Send the HAR file to our Support Team for further investigation.
