In order to use WeTransfer, you need an active account. You can either create an account via our sign-up page, or you will be prompted to create an account when sending a transfer. This article will step you through how to create, log in, and log out of your account. If you'd like to create an account(s) for a team or organisation, please refer to this article on our workspace accounts.
How to sign up:
We have two methods you can use to sign up or log in to your account:
- Social sign-up - Google, Apple, or Slack*
*A social login allows you to use your credentials from that particular platform's login. You will be redirected to that chosen platform to log in.
There are two ways you can create an account:
Sign up while sending a transfer:
When uploading or requesting files via the transfer window, you will be asked to verify yourself. A verification code will be sent to your email address which can be entered in the transfer window, this will create an account for you. When creating an account through the transfer window, you will no longer be required to create a password but instead when signing in a code will be sent to your email - more on this here.
Due to the nature of signing up with your social credentials, if you choose the social sign-up option, you are unable to directly change your email address through your WeTransfer account.
When signing up using Sign in with Apple, you can choose whether to share your personal email address or use Apple’s Hide My Email feature for additional privacy. If you select Hide My Email, Apple generates a unique, random email address for your account, typically ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com. This address is created specifically for that app or website and is linked to your Apple ID. The main reason for this is to ensure your personal email can remain private. You can read more about this via Apple's Support page here.
Sign up via the sign-up button:
You can always sign up via our dedicated sign-up button at the top-right corner of the WeTransfer home page. Here you can choose the subscription you'd like and hit 'continue' to move on to enter your email/social login.
As mentioned above, you can sign up via the method of your choice. If you have two-factor authentication enabled on your account, you will be asked to enter a code generated by your authenticator app.
How to log in:
You will see a Log In button in the top right-hand corner of the WeTransfer homepage:
