Starting November 2024, all users sending transfers via WeTransfer are required to have an account. This change enhances security, ensures better management of your transfers, and aligns with our commitment to providing a seamless user experience. Here’s why you might have received an email about an account being created, and what to do if you have questions or concerns.
Why was an account created?
When you send a transfer, an account is automatically created using the email address you provided during the transfer process. This means that:
- You can track your transfers more effectively
- You gain access to additional features, such as managing your transfer history
Didn’t intend to create an account?
If you received an email confirming that an account was successfully set up, but you didn’t register for one, don’t worry! This happens because account creation is now a default part of sending transfers. You can follow the steps provided in this article to delete your account.
What should I do to send a transfer from now on, if I'm not logged in?
Here, you can find all the steps you’ll need to follow to successfully send your files when you’re not logged into an existing account.
- Enter your email address and upload your files.
- You’ll be asked to verify your email address by having a verification code sent to the email address you entered.
- Check your inbox: You should find an email from WeTransfer with a verification code.
- Go back to WeTransfer and paste the verification code.
- Click on Verify and Send.
- If you don’t have a WeTransfer account, a Free account will be created after verifying the address.
- If you already have a WeTransfer account linked to the email address you entered, you’ll be logged into your account.
- If you choose the email transfer option, your transfer will be sent to your recipient(s). If you choose the link transfer option, you’ll get your transfer link.

If you don’t receive a verification code:
- Make sure the email address you entered is spelled correctly
- Check your spam folder
- Make sure the address noreply@wetransfer.com is among your trusted contacts.
