So, until now your good old browser has been working like a charm. But suddenly. our service isn’t running as smoothly as usual. How on earth is it possible that changing your browser would suddenly fix your problem? You don’t want to change your browser, since you and your browser have been best pals for years!
First things first, what’s a browser?
Just to make sure we’re all on the same page: a browser allows you to browse the Internet, and since we’re a web based service, this is a magical aspect of our service.
Browsers are a pretty nifty tool which allow you to do all sort of things: it can auto-update itself, the cookies in your browser can remember all sorts of stuff (like your email address and password so you don't have to type them in every time), and your browser can guarantee a secure connection and you can add many fantabulous extras to the experience with the World Wide Web.
Changing your browser's settings
Let’s focus on settings in your browser that can affect your connection to our service.
First of all, make sure your browser is up-to-date. Please have a look at this article, to check out our minimum browser requirements to use WeTransfer.
Second, your browser extensions or add-ons. Browser extensions come in many forms and shapes: some browser extensions can help you keep track of your passwords for you, other help detect and block annoying pop-up ads. Both these examples can also massively interfere with our service though, by blocking or misjudging parts of our platform by mistake. This can lead to our service being slower, or certain parts of the service not working at all anymore, like buttons. Pretty annoying, right? That's why it's worth finding out if turning off extensions improves your experience with our service.
Where do these extras you installed in your browser hide? Well, that depends on the browser you use. Most browsers will have a dedicated 'Extensions' or 'Add-ons' menu in your browser's settings. But plug-ins can be managed in the settings of the browser you use. Omg, did you spot the joke in this last sentence?
Maybe you don’t really feel like adjusting the settings of your browser, then of course you can switch to another one. Or you could switch your current browser to Incognito Mode or 'Browse in private’, usually this comes without all of the extra superpowers you’ve added to it.
