Collage Tool

To add a photo to your canvas, tap on the Collage tool.

You can then select from your device's Camera Roll, Pexels, or your Journal pages. Paper Pro subscribers can add multiple images to their canvas.

You can also drag and drop from the Photos app into Paper in Split View.

 Importing from a Journal page

You can import the content of another page from within the same Journal. If you have elements in the ink and photo layer, they will be imported as one element in the Collage layer. Content created in the ink layer will be imported without the background color into the Collage layer.

In the example below, we import a black silhouette of a rabbit created in the ink layer on another page in the Journal. The white "rabbit" text was previously created in the ink layer but has already been imported into the Collage tool. Once we import the rabbit silhouette, we double-tap on in to send it behind the white "rabbit" text.

Cutting and slicing images

Paper Pro subscribers can cut and slice images. Tap to select, then press the cut button. Cut out a piece, or slice across the image.

Changing the order of your images

A double-tap brings an image to the front or sends it to the back. To place an image in front of another, keep holding it with one finger while you tap on a second image.

Troubleshooting

If you don't have access to images from your device's camera roll, double-check that you've given Paper permission. Open your iPad's General Settings app and scroll on that first screen all the way down to "Paper". "Read and Write" permission is required to allow access to your photos in Paper.

You can delete images imported in previous versions of Paper via the Eraser tool. Press and hold on the Eraser and then select "Clear Images".
