From September 14th, 2019, a new EU regulation has come into effect which aims to ensure that your card payments are kept as secure as possible - Strong Customer Authentication, or SCA.
This is part of a wider range of EU directives known as PSD2, you may be required to authenticate your card payment for a WeTransfer subscription. This is where SCA comes in.
Authentication may be requested for new payments, reactivations, when updating your payment details, or even when your subscription is set up to renew automatically.
This authentication process may vary, as it is a step required by your bank or card issuer. However, in most cases, this will usually take the form of a push notification, or SMS message from your bank.
If you do not pass this authentication step, your payment will be declined.
Of course, if you're having trouble with this, would like some more information, or simply want to say hello, feel free to submit a ticket to our Support team.
