WeTransfer Sign lets you sign documents electronically — no printing, no scanning required. If someone has sent you a document to sign, here's everything you need to know.
Step 1: Check your inbox
When someone sends you a document for signature, you'll receive an email from WeTransfer Sign. The email will include a link to open and review the document. If you don't see it, check your spam or junk folder — emails from noreply@wetransfer.com can occasionally end up there.
Note: The signing link is tied to the email address the sender used for you. Make sure you're checking the right inbox.
Step 2: Verify your email address
Click the link in the email. You'll be prompted to verify your identity: WeTransfer Sign will send a verification code to your email address. Enter that code in the page that opens to proceed.
Note: You do not need a WeTransfer account to sign a document — the verification code is all that's needed to confirm your identity.
Step 3: Sign the document
Once verified, you'll be able to read through the document. You'll see the fields you need to fill in — typically a signature field, and sometimes a date or initials field. Click on each field and follow the on-screen instructions to add your signature. You can usually draw it, type it, or upload an image.
When you're done, click Finish (or Submit) to complete the signing process.
Step 4: Download the signed document
After all parties have completed their signatures, a proof of signature will be sent out. To download the final signed document, return to the original signing link — the completed document will be available there to save to your device.
All parties need to sign before the final document is available. If you've signed but can't download it yet, it means one or more other signatories haven't completed their signature yet. Go back to the link once everyone has signed.
Common issues
"I can't find the document to sign"
If you've created a WeTransfer account but don't see the document in your dashboard, go back to the original email and click the signing link directly. Documents sent for signature are accessed via that link, not through the main WeTransfer interface.
"The signing link isn't loading"
Try opening the link in a different browser (Chrome or Firefox tend to work best). If the page keeps loading without showing the document, try disabling browser extensions or switching off a VPN.
"I signed, but the downloaded document is blank"
If the downloaded PDF appears empty or doesn't show your signature, try downloading it again after a few minutes. If the problem persists, contact our support team and we'll look into it.
"The other party says they can't access the document"
Make sure the sender used the correct email address for each signatory. The signing link only works for the specific email address it was sent to.
