If you want to share your work for review without giving recipients access to the full files, you can send a watermarked preview. Recipients will be able to see your images and videos with a WeTransfer watermark overlaid — but they won't be able to download the originals.
How to enable the watermark when sending a transfer
- Add your files as usual on wetransfer.com (currently only compatible with images and videos)
- Click the ··· (more options) button next to the expiry date to open the settings panel
- Under View options, click the dropdown and select Preview only + watermark
- Click Get a link (or Send email) to send your transfer as normal
Recipients will see your files with a watermark across them and won't have the option to download anything.
Changing the view option after sending
Changed your mind? You can update the view option on a transfer even after it's been sent.
- Go to Transfers in the top navigation
- Find your transfer and click on it to open the details panel
- Under Extra settings → View options, select a different option
- The change takes effect immediately — recipients will see the updated version next time they open the link
💡 A couple of things worth knowing
- The watermark is applied by WeTransfer on behalf of whoever sent the transfer — if you received a watermarked preview, it means the sender chose this setting, not WeTransfer.
- Watermarks are applied to image and video file previews only. Other file types won't show a preview or watermark.
- Recipients can't download the original files when this option is active — the watermarked preview is for viewing only.
