In December 2024, we introduced some important changes to the existing WeTransfer subscription plans. Here’s all you need to know about this restructuring.
Overview—what changed?
WeTransfer Free

- Premium features, unlocked. These include unlimited portals, reviews, and file requests and password protection for every transfer. Plus, no more fees on paid transfers.
- Increased file size limit. You can now send files up to 3GB in size (increased from 2GB).
- Monthly transfers cap. Going forward, free users can complete up to 10 transfers and share up to 3GB-worth of files every month.
🆕 WeTransfer Starter
The new Starter tier is our most affordable plan, ever! It includes:
- Formerly premium features. These include unlimited portals, reviews, and file requests and password protection for every transfer. Plus, no more fees on paid transfers.
- Higher file size limit. You can send files up to 300GB in size.
- Monthly transfers cap. Complete up to 10 transfers and share up to 300GB-worth of files within a 30-day period.
WeTransfer Ultimate
- One single premium tier. We decided to merge our former top tier plans (Pro and Premium) into a single unlimited option.
- Premium customers retain all existing benefits

All users currently on a Pro, Plus, Distribute, Transfer, or Collaborate plan will be migrated to the Ultimate plan upon renewal. Please review the FAQs below for more information on this transition!

Frequently asked questions
How do transfer limits work?
Free transfer limits don’t reset all at once, but you can unlock new transfers on a rolling basis. For example, if you send two files on the 1st of the month, and eight more on the 15th, you’ll unlock two new transfers on 1st of the following month, and so on.
You can check how many transfers you have left by hovering over your Workspace name or email address at the top-right corner of the screen. Please note that the transfer count is based on the number of transfers sent over the last 30 days.

When will these changes go into effect?
The Starter plan is available for purchase as of December 16.
All changes to the Free plan will go into effect starting from December 16.
Pro, Plus, Distribute, Transfer, and Collaborate will be notified 21 to 28 days before their renewal, at which point they will unlock access to all Unlimited features. They’ll see the new price reflected in their account starting from their next renewal date.
I was moved to the Ultimate plan, but I’d like to go back to my Pro/Plus/Distribute, Transfer/Collaborate plan. How can I do it?
WeTransfer’s Pro, Plus, Distribute, Transfer, and Collaborate plans will no longer be available. If you’d like to switch to our Free or Starter plan, you can cancel your ongoing subscription by following these steps:
- Click on your Workspace name > Account > Plan and payment.
- Go to your Plan and Payment settings
- Click Cancel subscription. Your subscription will expire at the next renewal date. After that, your account will be switched back to the Free plan.
If you’re like to join WeTransfer Starter, you can subscribe to the Starter plan as soon as your subscription expires. Please note that it’s not possible for us to manually change your plan.
